Retro platforming game with a frog

Final Frog is an adventure game created by Phoenix Reborn Games. This is a relaxing platformer in the vein of Super Mario, complete with the side-scrolling action and the retro art style. You guide the titular amphibian across 30 levels, each being a timed challenge. Set personal records, collect flies, and traverse all stages.

Its art style and content volume make Final Frog a casual game that works to pass the time and is worth the price tag attached to it. It’s similar to, but a lot simpler than, games like Shovel Knight or FEZ.

Help the frog leap to success

Final Frog doesn’t offer deep and immersive storylines. Its simple premise lends to its casual, easygoing nature. You simply guide the titular frog across levels, going over obstacles and jumping over gaps. The game gradually increases in difficulty, but it remains mostly manageable. There are 30 levels available, with flies put in certain locations to add a bit of challenge to the experience.

For the visuals, it goes for the simple pixel art approach. It uses a good mix of solid colors to define its various levels, which effectively work. The movement and controls are also simple. Designed to be convenient and readily available, it supports offline play. Conversely, you can also use it with remote play, transmitting flawlessly across devices. It only has a single-player gameplay mode, though.

The first thing to note is that the game is linear. Once you’ve completed the levels and found the flies, there’s not much to do. However, the game times your runs, and you can redo any level once completed if you’re keen on setting a new personal record. Despite its limited replayability, a single gameplay mode with a fixed number of levels makes this game good for casual gaming.

A fitting addition to your gaming library

Final Frog offers simple yet charming gameplay, combined with its accessible controls and offline/remote play capabilities, making it a great choice for casual gamers. While its limited replayability and linear design may be drawbacks for some, the game's ease of use and competitive run times make it an enjoyable and relaxing experience. Overall, this game offers a delightful and lighthearted game.
